Group Senzala Anglia is very pleased to be hosting its 19th Batizado in Harlow Essex on 14, 15, 16 November!!

There will be 3 days of capoeira workshops, rodas, maculele & Samba. Plus "Aboa da Noite" party on saturday with live music, Capoeira show, Samba class and DJ.

So what is a Batizado?

A Batizado ("baptism") is a ceremony where members being "baptized" are normally given a corda (cord belt) and sometimes an apelido (capoeira nickname) if they haven't already earned one. Batizados are major events to which a number of groups from all over the UK, Europe and Brazil are normally invited. Sometimes a Batizado is also held in conjunction with a Troca de Corda (change of belts), in which students already baptized who have trained hard and been deemed worthy by their teachers are awarded higher-ranking belts as an acknowledgment of their efforts. Such ceremonies provide opportunities to see a variety of different capoeira experience levels, styles, watch mestres play, and see some of the best in the game. Sometimes Batizados are open to the public.

3 Days non batizado students £55 - includes ticket to the party, no t-shirt
1 Day - Friday only £20 - Saturday or Sunday Only £30

We have free accommodation for this event, please ensure you bring a sleeping bag. There are shower facilities at the hall.

Food will also be available to purchase throughout the day, plus dinner on the saturday after training.
